The holy father, drawing from his study of Carmelite spirituality during his youth as a layman, wrote his doctoral thesis on St. John of the Cross under the direction of Fr. Reginald Garrigou-Lagrange O.P.
The Avila Institute is a graduate and spiritual formation school with a focus on Mystical and Spiritual Theology. They additionally have a seminarian program. The school is attended by priests, seminarians, deacons, religious, and lay persons.St. Paul Bookstore became the sole, affiliate bookstore of The Avila Institute in Spring 2021, and works in conjunction with their team to provide books and required class materials to their students and seminarians.
